About NZSVO

The New Zealand Society for Viticulture and Oenology (NZSVO) exists for the promotion and dissemination of technical information in viticulture, oenology and related sciences for the benefit of the grape and wine industries of New Zealand.

Our Values

NZSVO is not aligned with any other industry organisation and maintains independence from commercial politics.

Our Members

Our membership includes people with a common desire to gain increased knowledge about all aspects associated with the wine industry.

Our Conception

The NZSVO was initiated in 1985 by Dr Richard Smart, who led the organization as inaugural president. The first objective of the society was to host the International Cool Climate Symposium, which it did in 1988.
