Title: Sauvignon Blanc aroma, it's origins and how as winemakers and viticulturalists we can influence its expression

Number of registrants:  Restricted to 120 persons to ensure participation from registrants.

Programme:

Session 1 - Keynote address from Professor Denis Dubourdieu, University of Bordeaux

An overview of Sauvignon Blanc worldwide and the importance of the vineyard on fruit flavours

Session 2 - Viticulture

Professor Dubourdieu will be joined by a panel to discuss the viticultural aspects that will lead to the production of premium quality Sauvignon Blanc fruit.

Session 3 - Fruit processing

Professor Denis Dubourdieu, University of Bordeaux

The importance of fruit processing on wine flavours

Dr Miguel de Barros Lopes, Australian Wine Research Institute

The role of fermentation on Sauvignon Blanc wine character

Panel discussion to discuss maximising wine quality

Session 4 - Wine tastings

Two tastings of 2004 juice and wine trials from Marlborough

An international bench mark tasting of Sauvignon Blanc wines from around the world
