2008 NZSVO workshop
Getting to grips with Pinot Noir - a look at Pinot Noir tannin management
Workshop speakers
Keynote speaker - Dr James Kennedy

Associate Professor of Wine Chemistry
Department of Food Science and Technology at Oregon State University
James Kennedy PhD is currently an Associate Professor of wine chemistry in the Department of Food Science and Technology at Oregon State University, as well as an adjunct professor in the Department of Horticulture there.
He holds degrees in Chemistry (BS) and Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry (PhD) from the University of California, Davis.
Kennedy has conducted research internationally as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Adelaide in South Australia and as a Fulbright Scholar at the Université Victor Segalen in Bordeaux, France.
His research focus is on grape and wine phenolic chemistry with a special emphasis on grape and wine tannin chemistry. His research includes work on phenolic accumulation and modification in the grape berry, extraction during wine production as well as modification during wine aging. His research has led to new insights into the role that environment plays in grape phenolic chemistry, as well as an improvement in our understanding of how wine production practices can be used to influence the chemistry of these sensorially important compounds.
