NZSVO was set up in 1985 by a number of individuals from the grape growing and winemaking industries, academics and researchers with the aim:
“To promote the dissemination of technical information in viticulture and oenology and related sciences for the benefit of the grape and wine industries of New Zealand.”
In 1998 NZSVO hosted the Second International Symposium for Cool Climate Viticulture and Oenology.
Between 1985 and 1999 NZSVO ran 13 annual technical conferences for the local industry. In addition numerous travelling road shows were provided for members in the regions.
From 2000 to 2003 NZSVO had a major part in arranging the programme at the Bragato Conference. This became the major function of the organisation.
NZSVO is now planning on running national conferences every second year. Information on these will be available both on this web site and to our members via our newsletters.
